Daily (end of day) data usable?

#1 Postby evertpot » Tue Nov 18, 2014 9:24 am

Hi

I am trying to test historical data from other sources (coming from sources like yahoo etc). And as it old it is only available as daily data. If i understand correctly FX uses only 1 minute data if from other sources. so if it is tick data it needs to be coverted to 1 minute data.

So my question what should i do to upload daily end of day data?

Would be great to know if this would be possible!

Thanks

Hello,

Forex Tester allows to add any minutes data. So if you have hourly or daily data you can import these data into Forex Tester and use these data in the program.

Hi thank you for the prompt reply.

I have been able to import the test data (s & p 500 data daily data), and i can see it correctly in 'history mode'. So good.

But a problem on the next steps:
I did generate the tick etc.

But as soon as i go into testing mode it becomes all wrong- the chart prices and very different from source data! do you know why? This is the same for the volume data.

Hello,

Please generate ticks "randomly by real volume" in "Generate tick data" window so you will have the same volumes in Testing Mode.

Also please note that Forex Tester can display volumes which are bigger than 1000 incorrectly.
Because it is too bulky to generate ticks for such big volumes.
In this case we can recommend you to open data file with notepad, Excel or other redactor, reduce volumes in this file (make them <1000) and then import this file into Forex Tester.
In this case all should work properly.

Hello,

You can create a new project with GMT+3 time zone, in this case you should have New York Close charts.
