Partial close, not possible?

#1 Postby ProFX » Sun Feb 28, 2010 4:20 pm

Isn't it possible to do a partial close with FT?

If not, please make it happen guys, this is really important.
I would not have bought the software if i had known this.

Sorry but at current moment Forex Tester does not support partial closing of position. You can open 2 or more small orders, for example, and set different take profit for them, it will emulate your situation.

We'll add this feature in next updates.

I hope the developers are serious about adding this feature to FT soon.

I've been using the product for a long time and it's annoying to have to open multiple trades and keep track of each of them, just so I can pretend like I'm partially closing a trade. This is a feature that should have been implemented a long time ago, since many traders partially close trades, when trading live.

Users have been asking for this feature since last year and there's been several upgrades since then. Yet there's still no partial closing allowed in the program.

I have the new version but I don't see where this feature is included. Can you please tell us how to use the new partial close feature?

Thanks.

Hello Brian,

Please right-click on the order in order list and choose "Close Part of Position" option.

Thanks! How can I access this through the API? I'd like to include this capability in my strategies.

Is it only possible to close parts at market price? Can't I set a take profit level for a partial close of the position?

Thanks. Will we see that feature in near future? To me its crucial to set up take profits at certain levels in advance and not by market order.

For now we do not plan to add this feature (partial SL/TP levels). Anyway i think that you can fix this problem with a strategy, so you will enter partial SL/TP levels to a strategy and it will close parts of your orders. We will add partial closing support to the API soon.

Thanks, but I trade and test manually and have no programming skills. So I still hope you change the tester in that way that you can close x part of a position at x price. It doesn't make much sense when you have to stop the test run to close a part of the position. It takes forever and you also wouldn't meet the exact price level you usually would have taken. So please think over it again and put it on your list. :?
