EURUSD and daylight savings

#1 Postby ginag » Sat Dec 26, 2015 1:20 am

Hi there
I am testing EURUSD presently on the 5MB timeframe.

I trade the open and the Period Separator (dashed line) is defaulted to the open of the market.

Does the forex tester data need to be shifted when Daylight savings starts and ends in March and October to ensure this dashed line is always at the open?

Or is it already shifted automatically so I can rely on the dashed period separator always being the Open time whether DST or not?

Please help. Its driving me mad.

:?
Cheers Gina

Hello,

All our data are provided in GMT+0 timezone without Daylight Saving Time support. So DST is not reflected on the chart.

Thank you for your response.

So, the forestester free data shows the London markets opening at 10am (reflected by the period separator at 10am).

When there is no daylight saving, I shift the data -8 hours and that makes the open 10am same as many MT4 brokers.

When there is daylight saving, does that mean that I shift the data -9 hours?

Does that look right to you?

Or have I got it muddled??

Is it the other way, shift it -7 hours?

I had LOTS of backtesting to do so want to make sure I get it right so I don't have to redo it!!!!

Our data are provided in GMT+0 time zone, London session open is 08:00 AM GMT+0.
If you shift the data to -8 then first bar of the day will be London Open bar.

During summer time the London Open is 08:00 GMT+1. So you need to move data to -7 if I calcualted everything correctly.
