4 hour chart time blocks

#1 Postby swingslide » Sat Dec 31, 2016 11:14 am

Hello,

The 4 hour chart in the Testing mode displays the candlestick bars in 0,4,8,12,16,20 blocks. The real account that I use in FXCM displays the the candlestick bars in 1,5,9,13,17,21 time blocks on the 4 hour charts. Is there a setting that can be changed for the Testing mode 4 hour chart to display candlesticks in the same time blocks, as that of the real FXCM account? I am using FT2.

Candle stick patterns are different due to the difference in time blocks. Back testing 4 hour strategies is a problem due to this.

I am using the free Forexrite data, and I have also tried data from Tickstory. They both have the 4 hour time block issue. I have read various posts on the GMT sliders and tried several settings, and they haven't helped.

Hello,

No, sorry, our software always shows the 4H candles for 0,4,8,12,16,20 hours.

The only way is to change the time zone of the data, so the 0,4,8,12,16,20 in the Forex Tester will be the same bars as 1,5,9,13,17,21 bars in the MT4.

Thank you. I did export data for the NY time zone from Tickstory. That should qualify as changing the time zone of the data, right? It has not helped. Do I have to use the GMT slider on top of the NY time zone data export from Tickstory?

If I buy the FXCM data and use it, will the 4 hr candlesticks match?

Hello,

Thank you for contacing us.

The NY time zone is GMT-5 while the FXCM broker works in GMT+2, that's why it didn't help.

Yes, if you subscribe to the paid data service, download historical data from our server and change the time zone to GMT+2, you will have the same candles as in the FXCM MT4 platform.
