No VM support in FT3
Hi - was really excited to see FT3 was available and was just going through the install. Very surprised to see a message after the install saying "Sorry. This program does not work under virtual machine." What's up with that? I'm sure I'm not the only one that doesn't have a physical Windows box to run some of their trading apps. Disappointed if this is not going to be fixed...

Hello,
What virtual machine do yo use?
Can you install the program on a machine with Windows OS installed?
Everything will work properly in this case.

Re: No VM support in FT3
It's VMware workstation Pro 12.1.0 on Linux. Although, after doing a little bit of research I have discovered that it's not a technical issue so the version, etc. is irrelevant. It's a choice that's been made to attempt to disable the software running on virtual machines. It's your software, and I guess you have your reasons, but as a paying customer I find really disappointing it doesn't work out of the box. 5 minutes on Google and you can find a workaround, so it's kind of pointless...

Hello,
Thank you for the details.
Our programmers are working on the VMware compatibility at the moment, it will be added in 2-3 weeks in the next Forex Tester 3 build.

Great - thanks for the update. I must have misread the reasoning for your developers having this notification/error in place if you're going to remove it.

Re: No VM support in FT3
Does anyone know if there is already a fix for FT3 to run on a VM? I purchased it based on the compatibility information in the site's FAQ that claimed the software could run on a VM. Thanks,

Re: No VM support in FT3
Same thing here. I downloaded the FT3 trial version in a VirtualBox running Windows 8.1 and when I launched the software, a popup said "This program doesn't work under virtual machine". It would be great to know if Virtual machines will be supported in the future, because I'd like to upgrade my FT2 in the discount window, which ends in 5 days. Any ideas if that will be supported down the road?

Re: No VM support in FT3
I have an offer code to upgrade my FT2 to FT3 at a great discount BUT, I am running FT2 currently in Virtualbox running Windows 7. If I upgrade to FT3, it will stop working because FT3 does not work in Virtualbox.
I don't understand why ForexTester wants to lose customers this way? Do you guys give me extension on the discount upgrade / offer code, valid till you guys add support for Virtualbox ?
Is there any alternative product like Forex Tester at an affordable price that runs in Virtualbox?

Hello,
Please try to download the demo of the Forex Tester 3 and install on a VirtualBox.
Then launch it, try to download some data via the Data Center and then create a new project via the "New Project" button.
If everything works properly then the program is fully compatible.
Sure, we can give you the extension of the discount so you will be able to purchase the upgrade at a discount price in future.

I downloaded a new copy of the demo today, installed it, and the same message appears: "This program does not work under virtual machine." How do we get an extension of the discount so we may purchase at the upgrade in the future?

Yes, I too rely on VM. My strategy is pretty much dead in the water without it. Anyone testing code in a greater scale than your average retail trader should use a VM in case the code is problematic.
FT 2.9 did have the ability to use VM's with no problem. Version 3.0, not so much. Hopefully there will be a patch very soon.

Hello,
I don't think that VirtualBox will be supported, the program is compatible with VMware and Parallels emulators only.

Re: No VM support in FT3
A couple of questions to understand if the VMware Version is the ignored bastard child
Does VMWare Version of FT3:
1. Has all the features of regular FT3 ?
2. get all the updates and bug fixes like FT3?
Thanks

Hello
VMWare version is not a different version of the program, just an updated regular version.
It is the only version of the program so it has all the features.
